The unreleased version of Resident Evil on GameBoy Color has finally been released to the public via Assemblergames. Both an original dump version along with a patched build are available.

Well actually not so much a member as it just being a fundraiser to buy it off of a collector....

and I will be doing another Viewing party for it later today.... on stickam (or if I can a better site) so yea...

Was waiting to see how the fundraiser went and see if they actually dropped the rom before I posted this as news. Glad to know it wasn't just a collect and run kinda deal.

Now to wait for RE 1.5 (it does exist... and there was a huge thing about a forum member buying for $300 from a collector (no idea why it was so low) and releasing some screens after doing a bunch of shady things on another resident evil site (I believe this was around late 07.... dunno)

1.5 will never see the light of day outside of what has already been released. It was illegally obtained and therefore most likely will be in whoever's collection until his dying day. To sell it would be just about as wise as walking into a police station and announcing you have a gun. And whatever forum member said they were going to get it for $300 is completely insane. That last I even heard of someone trying to buy this mysterious relic it was in the neighborhood of 5 figures. And to be anything less than that would be crazy.

Its too bad about 1.5, you never know capcom might decide to finish it one day... (We can always dream ). But anyway back to the Game in hand, I had a quick go, and although it is impressive that they managed to get all of re1 onto a gameboy cartridge, I have to say this game is pretty awful and you can see why it never got released...
But it is great to see the effort gone in to leaking such an old (unreleased) game.

If this had been released, I probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway. I would have stuck with the PSX version.

As for 1.5, I have given up on it a long time ago. I am only hoping that the character, Elza Walker will at least see the light of day.

Yea the game is fairly buggy at times... You can easily get stck by a zombie and die, cant pick up certain items (like green herbs), Infinite AMMO!!! (ammo probably wasnt implemented), The knife in this game is the worst knife in all of Resident evil.... it doesnt even work....

I disagree to an extent. The same could be said about the GBC beta, if anything there was even less known about it's build floating around. One day when the Biohazard name isn't profitable and a thing of the past, it is very likely that the beta will nonchalantly be released to the public. After all, it's not gold. No reason to give up hope, despite the chances being slim.
