Kotaku has been in talks with a Capcom spokeperson who says Resident Evil Revelations will retail for $50, $10 more than other games in the console. The reason behind this price boost is that "Resident Evil Revelations is an all new Resident Evil title with over 20 hours of gameplay, and cutscenes beautifully rendered in fear-inducing 3D".

In addition to that, the game features a Raid mode that can be played cooperatively or single player. To handle all of that data Resident Evil Revelations requires a 4GB cartridge, resulting in a higher price point.

IGN.com has an article that sheds more light on the game's Raid Mode and storyline. On Raid Mode, you'll set up an arsenal of three weapons, select from ~20 levels and battle against a set number of creatures as you progress to a finish point. At the end of the level, you'll be graded on a number of elements, ranging from accuracy to completion time, and a final score. Your score also determines how much in-game currency you have to spend on weapon upgrades.

Interestingly, Capcom isn't writing Revelation's scenario. Seeking a new approach to the 15-year old franchise, the developers sought out Dai Sato, a writer best known for his work on Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and more. Sato will be handling a very diverse cast of characters, including two newcomers that were revealed - nerdy combatants Keith and Quint.

Capcom says that Revelations will feature more cliffhangers arranged in a more unique structure than previous entries. The goal is to make this a game that is almost impossible to put down. In Capcom's estimation, Revelations will have the best story in Resident Evil history. To help the telling of this story, Revelations will feature an impressive number of voiceover options, including Japanese, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Subtitles will also be an option.

Meanwhile, the official Japanese website has been updated with new pictures on the mode, revealing Jessica and Clive as playable characters. The squid-like enemies have been officially named as Ooze and come in a wide variety of shapes, forms and difficulty.

That is a horrible and highly unprofessional statement in regards to a price hike. They should be delivering several hours of gameplay, and beautifully rendered cut-scenes anyway as video game developers. 3-D or not.

Nice, this game is sounding intense with all that they are putting into it. And the $50 bucks doesn't bother me much. Getting what I would from any console game and it's 3D and portable so not too much to complain about here.

I'm not really upset at the $50 tag. Revelations is pretty much on par with what a console RE would be like. Compaired to most 3DS games which are far more 'handheld' quality or ports of previous gen console games, I don't really blame Capcom for asking for a slightly higher fee for a game of this caliber.

I honestly haven't seen a single other 3DS game that comes even close to the amount of content and quality of Revelations.

Also in regards to the "ooze". From the raid mode trailer, it seems like all I saw was the same two monsters over and over and those two monsters were identical except for where the various spikes on their body were. From the game trailers too, that's all I've seen as well is mostly the same two monsters. Either the enemies are REALLY redundant, or capcom apparently just really wants to hide showing off the other enemies. That's my only real gripe with the game so far.
