Just got my box. Should pick up the GOW Origins Collection and I'm set for the short time off.

Already finished.

Yama, I had no idea you felt that way.

Anyway, would you say the set is worth the asking price? Certainly looks fancy enough with all the decals, bells and whistles but I've been fooled by shiny looking covers before. I still can't believe they listed the empty space for BH5 as a selling point. I'm still on the fence about the HD releases, though chances are I'll pick up CVX but that's about it. I don't feel like playing through BH4 again, but CVX on the other hand I'll definitely run through.

Now pick up the Splinter Cell HD Trilogy and then you're all set. Sam Fisher is like a 50 year-old Batman.

I played CV up to to scanner area and yup, this is more of a remix than a mere HD version. No matter how high you set the brightness, the foggy look of the original is definitely not there any more. I like it personally. According to cvxfreak in the other topic, the 360 version retains that foggy look however so some may like that version's look better. The vids and screens earlier are definitely from the PS3 game.

I've yet to check RE4 but hell, I was surprised that there is NO discrete 5.1 audio in CV. Just regular run of the mill stereo

The trophy list is doable. I haven't done a speed run in 10 years but I'll gladly do one now for the rocket launcher.

Not a fan.. and I REALLY REALLY tried back in the day. I may pick up Chaos Theory however at the right price.

On that note, I found out recently that the entire MGS collection will run at 60fps so I'll be getting that for sure now. MGS3 should be glorious that way.

Too bad CV and RE4 aren't 60fps in HD, but hey, MGS is the exception to the norm. All other collection do retain the standard 30fps of the originals.

EDIT: No 5.1 audio for RE4 either.. bummer. Will have to depend on PLII processing.

It's double the retail price for the special edition, which is worth it if you don't already own the original titles or two OST's. But honestly, this is the second or third special edition now that I've received PSX format releases, I'm kind of over it considering I already have the titles (four or five times over now). Something that would actually run via the 360/PS3 would have been more appealing to me at this point. I do however love the packaging and such and considering the retail price, it's not too bad. Plus it is indeed limited.

Second, first being the 5th anniversary steel case. I'll add that the silver CD's (vs black for traditional PS1 releases) makes this a noteworthy collectable. Naturally, having the digital versions of the game on the HDD makes this collection redundant. Frankly, I would've thought they'd give PSN codes instead of printing discs but hey, digital releases aren't very popular in Japan.

Also, the OST discs are the same ones included with CV's and RE4's Best versions in 2006 so they're no the complete tracks.

Btw, I have overscan turned off on my TV and I believe RE4 is not really HD (CV is fine). There are prominent black borders on all 4 sides of the screen. The screen adjust option does allow you to bump up the image to fill the screen... or you can just leave the overscan option on with your TV.

Third if you've received two briefcases, haha. Point taken, but let my exaggerations stand. Too much of the same!

Give me actual PS3/360 versions with achievements or trophies at the very least, perhaps the Saturn Battle Game or better yet... give me Rebirth! They just need to mix it up some. Thankfully CV/4 HD was a start.

Eh, all in all, I've well surpassed 15 copies of RE1 and 2

The ship on the PS1 games has sailed, particularly with PSN releases. There is just too much work that needs to be done to sell those at an acceptable price (don't think people would pay $15 for a HD remix of RE1 for example). That's not even considering the ancient nature of the games (I don't think CV HD will do well personally).

Now, the GC games on the other hand remain a possibility. CV is nicely done IMO, but I wish that they did more with RE4, particularly with shadows and lighting. Fans of RE4 should be happy though since it's definitely the best version technically.

I'll try to finish the game tomorrow to see if the SW cutscenes are realtime or not.

15 copies of RE1 and 2 is quite an achievement!

Out of interest to those who imported this, how much did you pay?

Cheapest I have found is £120 which is just under 190USD.
