So this guy named Ghostline is setting up private servers completely seperated from Capcom or KDDI services. Hes doing this by back engineering the disc, packet sniffing etc ( I don't know to much about the whole process) but you can find his work here:

Support these guys as this may be our only hope considering it looks like crapcom isn't willing to throw us a bone here.

It does no harm to Capcom literally speaking, unless of course they planned to re-release something along the lines of Outbreak in the future. Take it as good news... I guess?

Was it confirmed that it was took down by Capcom though?

So far these are only conjectures until the guy says what happened.

So odd, this guy had made so much progress. He had everything planned out, he detailed every step about the process of recreating the server right down to actually coding he did. I was so positive he wasn't just trolling either. He provided pictures, and videos as proof that he made significant headway in the creation of an alternative working server.

I doubt that he ran into legal trouble with capcom because I think its more then obvious that capcom is trying to forget that the OB series ever existed!!! Judging by some of there recent interviews about RE ORC that is.

Well I guess this old dog will finally be put down for good unless Ghost returns, but it is what it is.
