Pretty strapped for cash at the minute, but I figured, I'd just buy the bundle, would give me something to do. Left it downloading overnight in my room, went in this morning and it was really hot. Fuck, my PS3 really picked about the worse time it ever could to YLOD...

I don't understand why 12gb is a lot for two games, sly cooper 3 was 9gb. So all three sly games were about 23gb.

Can't comment on those games, but this is pretty bare bones. There aren't any enhancements beyond HD rendering. Even the audio hasn't improved from the Wii games.

That said, UC's RE1 and Zero backgrounds do look great in HD. In fact, those parts look better than DSC's locales too.

I suspect that originally Capcom just gave Cavia all of the 3D enviroment data used for the backgrounds in both Nintendo titles and they just implimented them more or less straight in... whoever has done this HD version obviously had all of Cavia's data to work from as well, so the full untouched higher res textures went straight in.

The level of detail in the RE/Zero sections only looks even more noticable when you're putting it up against the more plainer looking textures from the Outbreak enviroments used for the Nemesis scenarios.

Darkside's enviroments did surprise me though, they're decent enough and the HD look of them isn't that bad. Popping on the outside of the Dam was quite good looking for example, and attention to detail was paid for the RE2 scenario (and CV, but I figure some of CV's was directly pulled from the DC graphics, some areas don't look different one bit).

No credits for the HD port, Cavia no longer exists... any idea who did it?

I've finished UC except for all S ranks and played through most of Darkside now. Aside from playing the first stage of Umbrella Chronicles (got killed by the boss too IIRC) on a Wii back in 2008, I'd actually never touched them before this week. Was kinda out of my RE buzz when the first came out and didn't want to buy a Wii at the time.

While they're functional and fun, the canon is mostly treated poorly, and the games are a shadow of the full series titles they're mostly all based on. I would also love to know why they thought putting more shakey movement and taking away the camera control in Darkside was somehow a good idea for a sequel.

The thing ironically which gave me the best experience/most enjoyment in the games was playing the Hunk 4th Survivor extra level, which is obviously a loose first person recreation somewhat of the PS1 mode. But that wasn't it, what it was was hearing all sorts of cross chat over his comms which picked up survivors calls, radio stations, commercials, and the like which just hit so hard. Capcom had missed such an chance with Outbreak and Raccoon City, to make a proper survival game that traversed the city during the outbreak. The simple sounds of desperation and a radio station talking about it's final broadcast, things that kinda dip into the Romero films about average surviors in a zombie outbreak. Something I've felt for over a decade since the REmake came out.

Maybe the Wii-U title ZombiU might fill that hole. Still FPP title, but the survival thing seems to be the focus.

I'm enjoying the HD Chronicles games visually too. The two were among the best looking Wii games, and it's nice that the cutscenes were at least upscaled properly, unlike the CV HD version. Put the Wii version of Umbrella Chronicles in afterwards just to compare and I won't be going back to that version.

I think CV was perhaps 85% redone for DSC. They may have kept the basic geometry for some of the rooms' layouts, but they were clearly given texture makeovers. Same with the portions of the RPD that appear in both games - the geometry is similar in both games (with some rearrangements to objects on desks) with new textures applied. The room in Birkin's lab with Plant 43 was obviously lifted from Outbreak, again with new textures.

These games do show the inferiority of the Move compared to the Wii Remote, though. Having to calibrate the Move every single time is annoying.

With the Chronicles games out of the way, the only old games Capcom have left to put on PS3 are REmake, Zero, the Outbreaks, and the Gun Survivors (and I guess Revelations). With CV actually hitting PS2 Archives in Japan (in spite of the obvious redundancy there), I can see Capcom going with Gun Survivor 4 eventually on that service. Doubt the Outbreaks will ever be re-released, but I think REmake/Zero are the most possible. They'd just have to actually dedicate time and work for those.

Me too, but with the 360 people out there it would probably have to get ported to that too, not saying that it couldn't do without it though

Actually, UC and DSC have credits in the menu separate from the in-game ones after you beat the game once. DSC was done in part by MarvelousAQL.

Yeah the Move is my main issue with these games. It might be my controller crapping out on me but it seems like there is a little lag between the button prompts. It's mainly when I'm trying to pick up items. Other than that though it's the same games I loved on the Wii just with the added bonus of Trophies.
