I just tried Umbrella this morning after sinking some more time into Darkside, and the differences are pretty big. You begin to appreciate the changes and additions made to Darkside with respect to ammo and health management. The visuals in DSC are also so much more consistent and polished than UC that UC suddenly looks so funny looking with respect to color.

I think Umbrella Chronicles has a much slicker menu system though, and much better menu music.

Part of me wishes Umbrella Chronicles would get remade to meet the standard of Darkside, with a real RE3 chapter thrown in. :P

An even better idea would be to combine both games into one super package. That would be epic, even if financially unpragmatic.

Darkside dominated Umbrella Chronicles. My wii was broken for a while so I never bought UC untill recently after I bought Darkside and completed it. UC is so much more difficult and wayy off in terms of storytelling in the "original" scenarios. Racoon City was not like 3 at all, and mansion Incident was a rush through.

I agree completely. I played a few UC levels and above all the way the controls are handled is so different. UC feels sluggish in comparison. I do like the menus and the fact that it had side missions. I wish they would give us a true RE3 as well.

CAPCOM needs to go off-road, drop the rails and do proper Remake style updates for RE2,3&CVX ~ they managed it almost a decade ago on the Gamecube, so there is nothing holding Capcom back now, except lazyness on their part.

I think remaking stuff is counter-productive, sure we as fans would love it, but I'd rather have them working on brand new games such as Portable and 6 than sharing development time with rehashes. The REmake was only done because the original had a LOT of stuff cut in order to meet the PlayStation's specifications (game modes, many areas, even files such as the Trevor letters, etc.) The rest of the "classic" games, however, didn't have that much of content cut because of hardware limitations, AFAIK.

No, I think Capcom can't simply please everyone. A game to be remade IMO should not only upgrade the graphics aspect, also make the game the way it was intended in the first place. So far RE1 is the only one that needed it BADLY, if any of the other "classic" games needed that treatment I'm sure we'd have seen them remade by now. It's not that people begged for a remake of the first game and they delivered, it came out of nowhere... there's no need to remake RE2/3 & CV except for fanservice and nostalgia. Lazyness definitely is not the reason behind it, it's simply time to keep progressing the storyline.

(Does anyone agree this is the most (over) used word in the RE community?)

I dont agree, Capcom have been lazy, taking the easy option when the bar was set with Remake. Putting the player on-rails was a complete cop-out, and the same can be said of the partner interaction of RE5 when compared to what was achieved with Zero on the Gamecube. I agree re. not needing to update the classics, although the exspanse of Raccoon City, as seen in RE2 would benefit from a next generation update. But the 2 Wii shooters were lazy, in the same tradition of the direct, no up-dates, ports of Remake & Zero for the Archives series on Wii - just as they did with RE2 & 3 for the gamecube.

Well Capcom certainly got a clear message from the fans with the sales performance of Darkside Chronicles so far.

Resident Evil is way behind the times now. A reboot is the only option in my mind. There is no real story left for RE6, there isn't even a bad guy. Is Ada and The Organisation really worth waiting another 5 years for?

I would love to see the "Umbrella's End" and "Operation Javier" missions on a third person RE5 type game, then I could get rid of my otherwise useless Wii console.
