Wesker was in Raccoon City?

It doesn't strictly say he was, it could be referring to Ada, but it's not defined in the text. It's just left vague.

"Global Pharmaceutical Consortium"... is a mistranslation.

There's no "Global", and it's "Pharmaceutical (Industry) Federation".

Alternatively, it's "Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies".

I can easily see how they got Global Consortium though. Both translation basically mean the same thing.

Given Umbrella and Tricell were both members with branches worldwide, it "is" a global network.

Not a big problem for me at all since in this instance, nothing is really lost or technically "wrong" with their translation outside of simply being a different way of saying/describing it.

There's simply no "Global" in the name, there's no way around it and there's no way you can translate it as that unless you deliberately decided to tack it on. Which is what they did. And while the Kanji for "federation" can mean "consortium", it is a very uncommonly used translation (as other Kanji represent "consortium"). It may not be a big problem for you, but it's wrong. If the text doesn't say it, then it is not there, and is therefore wrong. Although they got the meaning, they failed to actually get the name.

The concept of the federation in general is actually based heavily on reality. There are countless pharmaceutical unions, most notable of which is probably the EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations).

They did the exact same with "Travis Company", twice. In the Degeneration DVD, they decided to use the name "Travis Enterprises", even though the Japanese text doesn't say that. In RE5, they used "Travis Trading". Both are wrong.

Again, no one is arguing that they translated it perfectly. Only that the group "is" a global one whether they pulled the word out of their asses or not. Therefore calling it a "global" organization is not "wrong" because it is one.

And most agree the name just sounds better. And that's again where I'm stating I think a lot of the translators do just that, take the general meaning and flip it around to something more savy in english which is how they get drastically different translations.

When I read your official translation those were my exact thoughts. GPC still essentially means the same thing and is accurate in describing what it is even if its not an accurate translation of their kanji for it. And ultimately, it just sounds better than the actual translation does.

That's all. Again, no ones arguing that the kanji read global.

Decided to translate a bit of BHDC dialogue to make sure Chris did actually ask Leon to send a rescue party. He did. Nice detail.

Quote:
洋館事件以来、消息を絶っていたクリスの居所を突き止めるのは容易ではなかった…
合衆国政府が有する情報を駆使しようやく本人を特定したが、運悪く今度はクレアが消息を絶った
それから数週間、俺たちはクレアを捜した
そしてようやくロックフォートに幽閉されているとのメールを受け取った
オレはそのことをクリスに伝えた
クリスはオレに救援部隊の派遣を求める一方、一足先にクレアの救出に向かった…

Since the Mansion Incident, it wasn't easy to locate the whereabouts of Chris, who had vanished...
I made full use of the information that the U.S. Government possessed and finally pinpointed him, but unfortunately, now Claire had disappeared
After that, we looked for Claire for several weeks
Then, finally I received an email that she was imprisoned on Rockfort
I conveyed it to Chris
While Chris asked me to dispatch a rescue party, he jumped ahead to rescue Claire...

Now here's a good question: have Leon and Chris actually met each other before RE6? It's implied, but never explicitly stated.

That's odd. Wouldn't Nicholai's data made that easy?
