Played around with the Vita tonight, wish I had no conscience ($ is tight) because I'd buy one on the spot. Hell, I'd buy one just for that Gravity Rush demo, game is so sick. Beat it like four times while playing on the stores kiosk, figured out a way to triangle jump safely... lol. Game is greatness. Oh and the comic strip cut scenes have better faux 3D than the 3DS does 3D. :/

Man, people are getting something out of the Vita that I simply am not. Feels awkward to hold in my hands. The one at Gamestop had the laggiest touch screen ever. Couldn't even try out any games. Overall impression was just not good.

I did a whole review for the Vita on a gaming website I work for. If anyone's interested, I'll post the link. I've had the Vita since pre-launch, got a Jap Import one. It's the same exact thing as the American one, just X/O are switched outside of games. Other than that, same thing since the Vita isn't region locked or anything.

^post it up. ;)

I actually just got a Vita today. Was gonna hold off until later but I had some stuff I traded in for it and gamestop was running a promo for extra credit towards a vita so I said, hell why not and picked it up. Ended up not spending a penny on the system past having to buy the stupid proprietary memory card.
Didnt get any games for it yet cause im on the fence still about what to play first.
Overall though I love the feel of it in hand. Alot lighter than I expected. Feature wise its almost pretty much a portable PS3. I like it. Just playing demos and PSP games atm.

Good review.

Overall I like the Vita as a Vita. But if you're looking at PSV as also a pseudo PSP theirs some real failures on Sony's part in backwards compatibility support right now.

-No system for UMD to DL transition. And probably never will be outside of Japan.
-No PS1 BC atm. "coming eventually"
-Only some PSP titles are available to strait up download from the vita store. More "coming soon".
-Only some PSP titles are able to transfer from PS3 to PSV. And the processing in doing so is cumbersome. Took me a long time to figure out you cant have the PSP title you want copied from PS3>PSV already installed to the system like you would when you go from PS3>PSP. Instead you need to have it in the uninstalled compressed mode "bubble" to copy it over. And even then when you get it working still only some titles are copy-able like this.
atm I have about 4 out of 9 games that are just plain not transferable to the PSV. Not yet atleast..

Oh and theirs connection issues with the cable from PS3 to PSV too. So you have to connect and reconnect the cable sometimes to get the PS3 to connect properly again after you've disconnected it.

Sony really reaks of rushiness with this thing. Either launch the system later than promised with it fully working as intended or dont at all. Im tired of companies rushing out bugged games and hardware only to slowly firmware update it for years afterwards.

That does sound pretty Sony like, too bad. It won't really hinder the experience for me however as I have a PSP Go on CFW for everything mentioned, no better handheld out there imo (as long as it's running CFW). Like you say, the Vita will simply be a Vita for me.

just replace the screen... they're so easy to fix. just buy the screen on ebay (~$40) and do it yourself. the only tool you need is a small screwdriver.
I've replaced around 4 PSP screens, for myself and others, just find a tutorial online. It isn't bad at all.
