Downloaded and toyed with the MK demo and it's pretty awesome. Could only play with 4 characters but 2 of them are Sub-Zero and Scorpion, which is cool because those are the two I used most of the time. Haven't quite figured out how to initiate the x ray moves and my old age has rusted my knowledge of the Fatalities. Seriously fun demo.

The X-Ray moves are fairly straightforward (like L2 and R2 together when you build up the level to use it), at least much like the old times of MK's past you're able to access a moves list which gives you information on at least one of them (as well as one of the characters fatalities) requiring you to work out the rest yourself or to discuss with others to find out.

It's good use of the Unreal engine yet again, but while I enjoyed the demo I don't see myself buying this for quite some time.

Has anyone downloaded Reverie? (the Lords of Shadow DLC). I hear it's extremely short with no boss fight at $10. The trailer was tempting but if it's just an hour affair, I may pass.

Right, the Mortal Kombat demo was a decent taste of the main course. The move set seemed good, not nearly as many button combinations as in Armegedon, but I guess they toned it down for the demo. Also the background pay a lot of respect to the old arenas, and I found myself distracted in the middle of battle trying to figure out who was fighting in the background on the Pit.

The uppercuts range seems to go a bit too far. I was so ampped to fight Goro at the end of the demo tournament, but this popped up instead. It sure raised my spirits!

Bringing back Test your Sight and Test your Might from Deadly Alliance is a great idea. The thing that bored me in Armegedon was the lack of any real mini games.

Well, then your in for a treat because this is said to have a ton of mini games/other things to do. I had the same problem with fighting in the Pit as well haha. I thought I saw Sindel or someone similar to her at one time or another. I think the fighters change though.

Yeah, I always seemed to think I saw Daegon (Armegedon) and Smoke fighting, but its random.
I was also really surprised to see the "WHOOPSIE!!" guy pop up on the right side of the screen after a combo. (Ed Boon, i think?)

Fabulous, I'm home because I'm not feeling well, I have my brand new TE MK to play with and the PSN is down for maintenance. So I ask you WTF???? First time I've actually experienced this. I won't be able to play my darn game either because I'm sure it needs an automatic update from the get go like most games. PSN = party poopers.

Looks like it could be down for another whole day yet too. I had planned to spend some of this holiday weekend here online with a friend of mine on a few games, instead I spent it playing all of Star Wars TFU II (not bad but the first was better) and some of the James Cameron's Avatar game (horrible) which I borrowed from a friend.

On Thursday I managed to purchase 5 PS3 games for $25NZD brand new as a clearance from a retail stocktake. Even if I don't play them I figure I can sell/trade them towards other games. Naughty Bear, Saints Row 2, Brutal Legend, Lego Rock Band, and due to peoples suggestion Dead Space.

Hmmm, I've been lingering over some Devil May Cry stuff (not surprizing, huh?) and I don't think this was brought up on this site yet.

'Devil May Cry' videogame heading to bigscreen

Edit: Not exactly Playstation related since its about a possible movie, but I didn't think it was that important enough to start a topic about it or bump off early DMC threads.
