April 5th here (with SHHD on the same day). Counting it down. :D

Irony for me is back in 2001/2002 I was playing Silent Hill 2 while I waited for MGS2 to release.... here I am just over 10 years later, playing MGS2 in HD while I wait for both SH titles, that includes Silent Hill 2. :p

I'm only 11% through the game and I am not disappointed at all. I'm enjoying just taking my time and looking at every little detail. I've had a few scares already, and I'm looking forward to even more.

I feel like I'm playing every Silent Hill game in one. I don't know if it feels like that for anyone else.

I haven't really had too many technical problems yet. I guess I've been lucky but I've probably just ruined that luck now.

I'll be playing this game like crazy for the next few days that's for sure!

Got it in my Gamefly list and hope to pick it back up again. I'm just feeling a tad overwhelmed at how large the map is and all the tasks to be completed. It's certainly not what I am used to and hope it doesn't ruin the game. I don't want to have to bust out the internets to get hints.

I'm a huge fan of Team Silent's entries, I don't really care for the new ones although Shattered Memories wasn't too bad, just a bit boring.

Those who have played the first four entries and this (without spoilers), is Vatra a worthy successor to Team Silent?

Just put this bad boy in about an hour ago and so far I am having trouble putting it down. It's a lot simpler starting from the beginning. :P The game doesn't seem to overwhelming now, but I have the red light of death that shows up...
I've noticed I am having some frame drops, especially in the bigger areas, but it's no biggie.

Okay, so instead of editing my older post, I finished the game and only accomplished about 3-4 side missions, however I noticed that the game really didn't take advantage of the environment like it could have. When I was indoors, every corner I turned had me scared shitless. It was dark, it was cramped and unfortunately...it was empty. Now I'm not talking about the cheap thrill scares like in shattered memories or where you SAW it coming. I wanted to turn a corner and have a fucking monster STARING at me until I moved again or attacked. After going through all the buildings with absolutely no repercussions whatsoever to having me on the edge the whole time, I found myself being able to zoom through the inside of the empty buildings, without any fear. This is such a huge turnoff. There was SO much potential to have me scared and remind me of survival-horror's roots. But having weapons scattered EVERYWHERE- I mean seriously, I didn't know which fucking axe to pick up. While I was surrounded by 10 less than aggressive enemies, I was more bent on which axe to pick up. Hmm, do I want the red or the black...I like the red one, it's nicer. I had zero interest in finding a gun because with 5 or 6 whacks, everything would die. I WAS on normal mode though..so maybe I can't complain.
Speaking of the weapons scattered about, I believe this really was a hindrance in picking up actual items. I mistakes a glowing rock for paper so many times and found myself running over every item, picking it up, then putting it down to make sure it wasn't important. But this...THIS is what killed me:

Spoiler:
The ending. All of the sudden, The cop turned into Rebecca fucking Chambers and "Oh, man, well Murphy Coen over here is so dead, so um..yeah let's forget about him forever now." So Let's just call this Silent Hill Zero now. Why did that piss me off so much? Because it's so cliche' it's ALREADY happened in another prominent Resident Evil title and they expect fans to eat that shit up? I was less than suprised at all of the connections the characters had. But at least it had wheelchairs in it. :\ That was cool, I guess.

The ONLY thing I happened to like about the game was the exploration. At first, I thought I'd be overwhelmed with the side-missions and HUGE environment. But once I really got into the game, it wasn't THAT big. Side missions were actually fun and helped piece together things. Not to mention I enjoyed exploring everything. It was a challenge and I had to write things down every once and a while. There was SO much potential. How did they manage to miss putting things in the buildings? I was more scared by the homeless man in the subway after my tenth time of running through there trying to figure out if there was something important in there, I turn the gate cor- AND OMFKASDJSF WHAT THE *beep* IS THAT KnssadsahdkSL" Oh it's just a homeless guy...HOW DID I NOT SEE HIM? :(((
I wanted more of that. :(

Okay rant over.
I like the game though ferreals. Like 6/10.

I'm a massive fan of the series and judging from all I've seen and the little I played(Demo last sept) it looks to me as if Vatra have nailed everything it takes to create one of the outstanding entries in the franchise. The mix of ad-hoc combat and deep exploration, together with an engaging psychological storyline could easily place Downpour among my favorites. I've actually had the game for a few weeks now,but have not yet played as I promised my buddy we'd enjoy the ride together...its gonna be a blast!

I've finished the game three times now to get all of the endings. I guess that means I really love this game because after just beating it last night I'd like to start another game already.

I got the "Surprise!" ending last night and it made me laugh like crazy. If you guys haven't seen it yet you really should.

My favorite part about the game was
Spoiler:
during the Hansel and Gretel play that came to life. I was freaked out by the lightening and when I saw the trees swaying around....I can't describe how awesome that was. That part was brilliant.

I admit that I also freaked out when I saw him. He was just a dark blur when I first saw him and I was too afraid to approach him and just sat there staring. lol
