Come RE fans, Capcom has a new zombie game out, this should interest all of us. So Dead Rising is out, I read a few of you have it. I played it at my brothers house here is what I thought of it:

This game is awesome. Ok so the gameplay isn't the deepest, this game won't be winning any awards but we already knew that. Still there is so much to do, and it does feel like it gets old. Me and my brother played for about 5 hours and I only beat the first boss, we just killed time and messed around, it was great.

I love the way it starts (the first frame of the intro movie should remind some of another Capcom zombie game ), its a nice way to introduce the story and keep it interactive. Once the game starts off you go, do whatever you want, you get missions but from what I saw there was PLENTY of time to just hand around and do stuff. I died a few times so I got to redo the beginning a few times and each time I found something new. New cutscenes, new items, just a ton of stuff and I havn't scratched the surface.

Combat is simple but fun. When you get the larger weapons it gets really interesting, like a lawnmower or a shopping cart. Then there all the hidden things in the mall like finding a Mega Man helmet and buster. I went into the movie theater, its so big i didn't even bother to explore the whole thing, who knows what secrets lie there. When you go to a kitchen area you can mix foods to make special drinks. Have you put a frying pan on a stove to heat it up and then use it as a weapon, cause you can and its awesome. Even taking pictures can be fun, get a picture in the right time and you get massive points for leveling up. Plus I got a ton of achievements early on for some pics I took.

As I said i got to the first boss fight, pretty standard stuff. I'm sure it there will be more interesting fights along the way. Dead Rising looks like the type of game that will keep itself fresh for the duration of the whole game. I can see myself finding new things to do even on the second playthrough.

I'll give my impressions later, for now I'll just say it's a lot of fun, which it is. :)

Where is everyone in the game? I'm on Day 4 (The End) and waiting for some time to pass for a scene, nothing left to do at the moment, but I'm sure there will be soon. :o

I just beat both modes and it felt like two different games. I enjoyed it, don't get me wrong, but the continuation mode felt like a freaky MGS game. Barely any zombie fights, overpowered guards... it was a pain more than anything, anyone beat it yet? Happy it's over quite frankly, just want to play infinite mode now and enjoy myself with the better more fun parts of the game. 72hour mode was great, but the overtime was just flat out "bleh" until the very end of it. Most of the tasks were annoying as hell, mainly because of the soldiers. Also, the "true" ending sucks - actually, I think the one at the end of 72hour mode may have even been better. All in all a good and fun game, could have used some polishing, but certainly fun enough to keep me playing for a while. On to infinite mode...

Well, infinite mode isn't quite what I thought it was. I guess if you want to just mess around some without a clock ticking down your back, you have to miss an objective on purpose. I suppose I'll start a new game and do so early on, no sense in doing it late in the game. I just felt like running around some after beating both modes; try out some new moves, level up some more - then I'll start a new serious 72hour. I do love how they allow this, to add to your level and all even after dying, so your mess around sessions actually can mean something, opposed to just being a waste of time.

Damn Yama, beat it already, amazing. So if you had to give a quick general score to the game what would it be.

I didn't get to play today, tomorrow I might, and then I'm gone for a week. So it will be a long time before I beat it, plus it sucks having to go to my brothers all the time to play it.

I'm about 20 minutes waiting away from beating the 72hour mode for the second time, it goes quick depending on what you do and what level you're at, much like Biohazard 4's weapon upgrading. I'd give it an 8.5, it is a great premise that delivers a lot of fun - but at the same time lacks some polish and identity late in the game.

I played some more today, a bit frustrating but overall fun, nothing spectacular though.

Did anyone see the hidden intro movie. If you leave that title screens with the zombies walking past for a while a cutscene will happen. Its really good.
