How did he lame out? He x-factored Zero (as far as i can tell anyway) to rush him down and double super'd Trish to death to get her the hell out of there.

I was just happy he overcame Justin's turtling, because it was ridiculously effective.

I didn't call cheesecakes or anything.

Exactly what he did. Nothing wrong with being lame.

Sad thing is Justin plays like everyone on xbox live is probably going to play, what a lame playstyle.

^While I agree it's annoying and rightfully so. I'm not sure what the big deal overall is. I was mostly just happy that Marn was able to get around it and punish Justin finally so he didn't think he was invincible doing that, that's all.

There are various tactics to use. 'Rushdown' is not the only, nor 'should' it be the only viable tactic in a fighter. A trap/pressure game like that forces your opponent to have little room to get to you and do much to you. That's a 'smart' way to play, because you shouldn't be giving your opponent a chance to attack you in the first place. You want to damage them and not take damage yourself, that's the key to any fighter.

Your job, instead of getting upset at what someone is using against you, is simply to find a counter to it and punish them for it. I learned that lesson the loooooooooooong and hard way, but, it's true. And it makes the game a 'lot' more fun when you focus on how to beat it rather than 'this is cheap!'.

And keep in mind, Capcom purposely gave Trish those Traps. It's part of her gameplay. Using them to your advantage shouldn't be something you frown upon.

All stuff I already know, but thanks. That doesn't make his turtling playstyle any less lame. I'm more surprised it actually works on so many people, justin wong plays so predictably in his matches that you should know everything he's gonna do before he does it.

Yup.

Why is it lame though?

It's kinda like saying the super villain who lacks super strength to go toe to toe with Superman is lame if he outsmarts superman and defeats him through trickery and luring him into a trap he can't escape from. That he's a lameass for not getting into fisticuffs with Superman.

Or that a villain that causes an earthquake, or makes debree walls fall in front of the flash everytime he tries to use his superspeed to get close is lame because he's not giving the flash a chance to get to him.

Marn's team was primarily a rushdown team. Wong's team is a counter to that, a keep away/zoner type team. His entire playstyle is built around 'preventing' rushdown chars from doing just that to him, rushing him down.

I don't disagree it's completely annoying to deal with and very frustrating. But, having a playstyle that forces the other player to ADAPT and make them think past their own 'rush in and go combo crazy' primitive logic isn't a bad thing.

If every match was literally who can rush in and get their combo off first, it would be an EXTREMELY boring game.

Only people who are lame are people who rely 100% on one style of gameplay and cannot adapt whatsoever once that fails. Aka, the people who pick Cable/Sentinel/Iron Man or something and sit in the corner spamming beams and assists non-stop because it works against scrubby casuals for easy wins who don't know how to deal with it, but, get utterly destroyed against anyone who has an inkling of what they're doing and then rage quit when they see they got trumped for it.

Wong certainly doesn't fit into the 'one trick pony' category even if his gameplay tends to generally be keep away. And this is coming from someone who isn't exactly a Justin Wong Fan to begin with.

I've seen him do the same thing every match, throw a sword as trish when the opponent is down, use ice storm as storm every opportunity, spam chun assist, etc.

There's nothing wrong with it working, the problem is it DOES work on everyone. Either there's a problem with the game or there's a problem with everyone he's playing. Don't know which.

Justin has just never impressed me in any game he's played, now more than ever in MvC3. That's all I meant by it.
