I'm still slightly confused though. Wouldn't it make more sense to play it normally then? Since it goes by the less life you have, the longer it lasts. So, if I switch out a char in red to let him heal and bring in a fresh one etc. and play normally. When I'm down to my final char, I activate X-factor and now get the mega-boost which would be even greater considering he's not at full life like he would be if I just let the other two die without switching them out at any time.

In any event, Akuma and Taskmaster are rather underwhelming reveals for me personally, but, either way. I suppose that simply leaves Sent and Lei-Lei left. Hopefully, they do something surprising and make Sent be Bastion or Nimrod or something instead. That'd be interesting.

X-factor length is not remaining life, its remaining number of characters. Lvl 1 is with a full team, lvl 2 is with one gone lvl3 is with one remaining.

Ok, but, even in that sense, wouldn't it still follow the same idea? If the other two get defeated and you activate it, you're good to go whether you let them all die first and brang in a full fresh health bar or whether you switched out periodically to help the others last a little longer. Either which way, you end up with one char left who's activating it.

Like I said, just confused on why people are ignoring tagging out to let someone regain some health instead of just letting them die. You get the same benefit of x-factor either way when you're down to one char so.

Otherwise it seems like suiciding your other chars from the get go to simply OP your remaining char to do all the damage/combos/etc. from. Which to me, just kinda cheapens the whole 3 vs 3 idea and makes it kinda meh.

Guess I'll have to have more hands on with it before I can really say much more. Just confused about it at the moment is all.

If it's the reveal vids your talking about, then they're probably not switching out as much b/c they purposely sandbag at times so it winds up being the 2 newly revealed chars fighting at the end.

Oh, I wasn't really saying that to argue either way just setting facts straight. There really isn't a good reason to let characters die if you can avoid it by anything but a dry switch. Like finalxboss said they sandbag in the Capcom vids.

^Oh, I was referring to even in the live stream vids I watched, no one really switched out at all. They would just let their chars die and get replaced by the next. I just found it odd since everyone seemed to be doing it. I was confused as to why people were doing it and not switching out to let someone regain health.

Like, I've seen people get a combo that took like 80% of their health and they had like an entire red bar full of health they could have regained but still kept their char in and just let them die rather than switch them out to regain health. I just found it odd.

And I remember someone saying something about switching out not being 'safe' in MvC3. Which is why I asked about it here so someone can explain to me exactly 'why' it isn't safe or what's going on.

Like I said, just confused on the matter.

Okay dry switching is really unsafe. You get that blocked or you whiff it and you are eating whatever combo they want, a lot of the time the new character you switched in will just die. That said there are ways to switch in that are more safe. Many DHC's are a totally safe way to switch in if you have two bars to spare. Alpha counter can get you in for one bar but its riskier(usually, because they can ofcourse block this. It's better than a switch because you can use it in a block string so its often less expected.). Arial exchange costs nothing and is totally safe but you need to get into a combo first and they can "burst" it if they guess right. All but the exchange applies to MvC2 also.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Was just unsure why they didn't switch out at all. Like didn't set up a combo to switch or anything, just outright let chars die everytime. Very few people I've seen actually tag out at all. Just found it odd.

Yeah I'm guessing they are just overwhelmed at being so new to the game and having so little time with it. I have noticed it a bit also.
