Recently it was reported that Akira Yamaoka has left Konami and the Silent Hill series, the reasons of which are currently unknown.

Akira provided the team with 16 years of arguably the most incredible game music ever for a series, and in my opinion was a very important piece of Silent Hill and everything that made it incredible. He composed for every title in the series save the spin off "Play novel." Akira was also a producer for Silent Hill 3.

Where Akira heads right now is unknown, although OSV claims to be preparing an interview with Yamaoka in the next little while. I am saddened by the news, as he is incredible and will truly be missed in the series if he decides that is it, but wish him luck wherever he goes.

So, just wanted to see who all here is a fan of his like I, and just to wish him luck and hope to hear some of his chilling music and soundtracks once again in one way or another.

Feel free to post some of his music for others, these are some of my favorite tracks, although to include all of them would be pages long on my favorites alone!

So good luck Akira, thank you for all the incredible scores you did for Silent Hill, a huge part of my love for the series, good luck and hope to see you back in the nightmare of silent hill with your music again.

I can't blame him, he simply doesn't want to be associated with what silent hill has already become (not going to become), that is, a bad product.

Survival Horror is on life support anyway, so any news of people quitting their job is not really that surprising to me. The genre hasn't been the same since 2006 and probably won't be ever again, all thanks to the Action Horror route every major horror game series is following. Even one of my favorite series, Alone in the Dark, was tarnished and did not escape the cash cow.

And even if you don't take my word for it (you must know that I'm right), it is bound to ring true eventually. So in closing, nothing lasts forever. The genre had a good run. But it is pretty much a pale imitation of what it was. You cannot seriously say Dead Space passes off as scary!

You can still go back and play the main Silent Hill games again. But just don't hope for miracles with the series anymore!

I've dug up an old OPM from early 99 with an interview with the key people on the team back then. Granted most of it is dialogue with the director/creator Keiichiro Toyama (he moved to SCEI in 2000, known as Siren creator as well).

Care to provide evidence that the product and game's themselves has anything to do at all with Akira leaving?

Not bashing your opinion on what the games have become, which i disagree with entirely, but saying that is the reason why Akira left, that he doesn't want anything to do with the series, is pure biased speculation.

My bad, i've forgot to say "I think", if i were him i wouldn't want to be associated with a product that devalues my music... (like Michael Jackson and Sonic 3???) and developed by people who doesn't have nothing to do with Silent Hill. Because while that is just my opinion, It's a fact that Silent Hill is no more a decent product... just look their Metacritic scores.

Playstation 3: Silent Hill: Homecoming (2008) 71/100
Xbox 360: Silent Hill: Homecoming (2008) 70/100
PC Games: Silent Hill: Homecoming (2008) 64/100

I played Homecoming on my PS3 and PC...quite disappointing game, i must say the critic is right. Lots of graphic bugs (expecially the PC version), ridiculous boss battles and inadequate controls... about the plot i dunno, quite decent i must say, but every aspect of Homecoming is inferior to its predecessors.
Actually, the best thing of this game is the music written Akira Yamaoka.

No intention to derail your thread Biohazard151, i just wanted to share my opinion on the matter.
