I never said it affected the 360, as I said it's just the PS3 version. The point is prior to the patch on the PS3 the scene was supposedly unchanged, after the patch it was. Intentional change or bug it seemingly is releated to the patch.

I haven't even gotten that far. I've been pre-occupied with ORC. In the videos leading up to release these games looked great. Not sure what's going on there.

I talked to SG on the PSN, I'm on the fence about buying this now. But I don't want to miss out on a physical copy if they're going to be hard to find (within just over 2 weeks the MGSHD set was impossible to find, the local distributor is terrible). Going through this thread at NeoGAF has not helped.

I doubt it'll go out of a print. Although it says you live in New Zealand (BTW my commiserations on the cost of video games over there) so that may be a different case.

In my case I bought it because I wanted to play the two again on my PS3. I have a PS2 and I already have both games, but the prospect of them being enhanced in general was incentive enough for me. If you're the same, or if you care about trophies then maybe you should pick it up. I doubt it'll get a price cut in any region, so if you fear that it'll go out of print, then definitely get it now.

It won't go out of print worldwide but historically Konami games are over priced and/or hard to find here because the Australian distributer is fairly lack luster. I purchased by brand new copy of SH2 back in 2001 for $140, MGS2 was $130. Additionally MGS2 Substance and MGS3 Subsistance back to $140 - and both were rare, as was Twin Snakes (200 copies nationwide) and the MGS4 LE (also 200 copies). And while the MGSHD collection was only $100 here, as i said after about 2 weeks it was almost impossible to find. And that's not taking into account the fact they cancelled the release of the LE version of the collection even before it came out.

Oh first world problems in videogaming :p

The "censoring" of the cutscene I mentioned before is by-product of the patch it seems. The patch is supposed to fix stuttering and frame load, but it ends up keeping the load screens on longer than they used to and so thats what's cutting off the start of the cutscene. Words came directly from Tomm Hulett but easily explains why the 360 version is unaffected (no patch, has a better frame rate to begin with).

Interestingly two pieces of dialogue have been changed in SH3 as well, but the subtitles haven't so you'll notice it. Both changes were checked with Blaustein and he approved supposedly.

Lol after seeing that comparison video, I think I'll fully pass on the HD collection.

Sound aside, which is still questionable considering the surround mix amps bass while drowning other things, this is sadly the worst HD effort yet. I'd been playing it slowly due to time (and the fact that I dedicated most of my free time to play the travesty that's NG3), and upon reaching Rosewater Park, things get worse. The stuttering is compounded by slowdown and the fog looks worse than ever. To elaborate, that area is where the effect itself is closer to environmental objects so its lower resolution hits hard. Yes, despite it being an "HD" remix, the fog is most certainly rendering at a lower resolution than the PS2 original.

For those who've played the Xbox SH2, you've seen stuttering in the frame rate in the fog. Now imagine that indoors as well and somewhat more frequent.

I think I'll be selling this shortly.

If you can trade for the 360 ver I would. Apparently is has no framerate issues to speak of. But the fog and texture issues are no different. And audio issues too. So otherwise ignore that and don't.

Fewer frame rate issues, yeah but they're still there. I think I'll just sell it and forget about this collection completely. It really does not have tangible advantages over the originals aside from the per pixel light cone for the flashlight (which was present on Xbox and PC).

If I can get $20 for this, I might just consider the trade in.

The sad part is that despite some minor issues (4:3 menus and FMV's), the DMC collection is apparently good. I'll wait on hands on reviews from the fans and decide on that.
