The problem I have with it is that it is way too over the top for my liking, DMC has a certain over the top campyness with Western flare to it that was appealing, whereas this is just too ridiculous, something you'd find in one of the thousands of generic animes that I despise so much.

Forgive me for giving me own two cents, I'll gladly go to back to Aliens: Colonial Marines anyday over this.

My other complaint with your criticism of the game is that it doesn't sound like you even played it.

Because there's nothing in either body of text in this thread that discusses anything gameplay related.

You didn't need to play the demo to make those comments, you could have watched any of the four trailers released so far and say the same thing.

I DO get that you don't like the game, but I think your comments are unwarranted.

Anywho, I have a question for anyone who is knowledgeable about the gameplay...

I was playing the demo and I somehow did this one move where Bayonetta stands on top of a fallen enemy and stabs him repeatedly, it was called 'Punish" or something, how did I do that? Is it a torture attack?

That was the whole point behind my original comment, it doesn't look good to me, so I'm not intrested and most likely not going to play it.

I thought I'd chime in with my opinion based on all the videos of gameplay I've seen since there's no demo I can play since I'm in the UK, and get attacked because it wasn't a perfect 100% in favour vote for the game.

There's no demo in the US either, and we all found ways to play it.
Not saying that you have to love the game at all. I'm just not sure how you formed an opinion about the game without even having tried it.


I think you can step on a downed enemy with your heel if you press the hard attack button repeatedly (circle on PS3 or B on Xbox).

There is also this combo, in the normal gun stance: L-L-L-H-H [-] L repeatedly

where L is light attack, H is hard, [-] is a pause
she does 3 quick normal hits into 2 sweeps and then mounts the enemy to give it a good spanking. Very entertaining.

Ah, thanks for the info. I knew the dots meant pause but the rest was informative, I love how deep the combat is, I've played the demo like 5 times. I'll definitely be picking this title up eventually.

I meant the big dots on the button commands in loading screens and stuff telling you what the combos are. I knew those meant pause between button because it's similar in DMC3.

i vid of some guy getting a 320,000 combo on verse 1. after watching this i think the secret to getting a platinum in the combo rank is using the pick-up weapons. notice how each shot with the trumpet gives 200 points as opposed to 10 for a punch.

pro-tip: i found out you can skip cut-scenes but pressing L2 R2 and select at the same time. kinda not important, but whatever it's something.

When you said verse 1 I thought you meant the falling clocktower, but then I remembered the PS3 demo doesn't have that part.
