I tracked down and bought FF8 and FF9 on ebay since I got the urge to play them again.

I truly forgot just how easy FF8 is. xD Just finished it, but hey the story is cool and the cutscenes in space are the best ones in the series imo.

I honestly think triple triad is what makes the game so broken lol.

I didn't even do all the complicated stuff like using the card game to get 100 triples or Lionheart on disc one, I just got most of the character cards and the Laguna card and boom, every boss fight was easy because of the 100 heroes.

Though I always have a hard time actually giving up the cards I win for items. :(

I agree, I loved FF8 to death, but never could understand Triple Triad, it sort of ruined the experience for me. That and how when I got to the final boss I only had like a max of 300 health for each character since I didn't know how to increase health (I noticed that most people who played the game had like 5000 health in videos and stuff).

That doesn't really matter since enemies in that game scale to your level.

Indeed, but I was like at the maximum level using maybe second tier weapons and with only 200-500 health for all of my characters lol

Selphie + The End = Awesome.
Irvine and the AP Shot = Also Awesome
Rinoa = I like her but meh.
Quistis = Degenerator is the most abusable power levelling ability on Islands of Heaven and Hell.
Squall is meh. Not a big fan. And that's it.

What about Zell?
And yeah Selphie is awesome, she is definitely my favorite.
Irvine came across as a total player to me though, lol he hit on like all of the girls.
Squall was just badass, but to me it didn't seem like his character really developed much until around the third disk
Quistis seems like she wasn't ever expanded upon as a character, and there was a lot of potential for her, but nothing ever came of her character
Zell I can't really comment on, since I didn't do his romance side quest in my first playthrough, but I plan on doing it this time around

I recently did a low level initial stats run of FFVIII (no junctioning to stats and not leveling up at all, but I can junction abiltiies, just not stat boosting abilities) and Rinoa was one of the most important party members.

Only put Meteor in her stock, Angel Wing + Meteor + Meltdown + Haste = destruction. She can deal about 10,000+ damage at her lowest level, not to mention Wishing Star (her final Angelo Limit break), which deals a hell of a lot more. If you know how to manipulate the crisis levels of FFVIII (which isn't very hard at all) then you can turn her into an absolute beast.

Not to mention she's one of my favourite characters, I do like Selphie early on though as she gets the Full-Cure slot quite a lot which is handy. Zell's infinite combo can be a real lifesaver as well. Irvine's shot was okay, I'm quite partial to Fast Shot myself. I see Quistis as more of a supporting character due to the nature of her Limit Break, such as Mighty Guard. She definitely seemed to get shoved in the background the further the story went on though, sadly.

As for other Final Fantasies, I started up FFIX again tonight, doing my first level 1/low level run. Should be interesting. Shame you're forced to take exp during your stay at Terra though.

As for other RPG's, I really enjoyed Lost Odyssey, I should really give it another play sometime. Brilliant game.
