According to 1UP.com, the next game in the Fatal Frame series will be a Wii-exclusive title developed by Grasshopper Manufacture (Killer7, No More Heroes). As a huge fan of GHM's work, I'll be looking forward to this one.

I still haven't played a game in this series yet, one day I will, I promise.

 Yama!

Cool! ...and Grasshopper no less! I've never played this series before, so it'll be a virgin experience for me. And hopefully those fools at Konami will follow the example and give us a Silent Hill for those of us a little too old for Elebits and Dewy....

Boys with their toys. :(

"We've had Fatal Frame on PS2 and Xbox, so why not Wii? It'd give us a chance to try out all the cool Wii features..." ~Random Tecmo Employee

I made that last part up, but it's how I feel after hearing the news. But oh well... At least now I have three reasons to buy a Wii - The Umbrella Chronicles, Sadness and Fatal Frame IV, to name but a few.

All right, after the initial shock (this was said to be a PS3 game in 2006) I think it can work quite well. The presentation of the previous titles was top knotch. The Wii can definitely match and add some polish to the PlayStation 2 level graphics. Atmosphere is a huge part in Fatal Frame, so while I would love to see what could have been on a next-gen powerhouse, I'm willing to accept more of the same.

Controls are where the fourth installment will benefit the most. If you play Fatal Frame you already know the controls are a bit complex. You can select between a 2D/3D control scheme for exploration and then the camera in various ways. My selected scheme was always 3D (Biohazard) and using the camera like a FPS.

If the game follows it's predecessors, the Wiimote+nunchuck combo will be perfect. Left hand to move/explore, right hand to move the flashlight (left/right/up/down regardless of position - more or less like the analog stick). Trigger on nunchuck brings up camera, move the Wiimote for aiming. It'd go from a complex scheme to efortless.

Bring on the info, just don't make it a first person-only adventure.

Always glad to hear another FF in the works, and even happier to hear the Wii gets another horror game. (its lacking in that genre)
