Sure, here is my Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Review:

Spoiler:
"Overall, this is one of the better and certainly most polished horror games to date."

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly is one of the many horror titles that slips under the radar due to the many other high profile games in the same genre, though undeservingly so; as it sticks with the best of them.

Fatal Frame 2 brings a familiar style of gameplay back from its predecessor, capturing or exorcising the souls of the dead. The method in which the player performs this is with the Camera Obscura, a camera that is found within minutes of the games beginning. As the game rolls on the player will find higher quality film for the camera, each has its own effect and amount of exorcism power. The starting film is unlimited, but significantly weaker than just the next step up. The method in which the player captures spirits is quite enjoyable. The game has our protagonists, Mayu and Mio, running around in a third person view quite similar to "Resident Evil." Though when enemies appear, to capture them the player must switch to the camera, which is in the first person. When in this perspective the player can still move and look all around the area, much like a FPS, though its pace is under even that of medium-speed. The camera can be fully upgraded with many skills and features, some that will adjust loading/shutter time and others that will even seek out an enemy for the player. It's fun to customize the camera and use its many features in the right spots at the right time. The switching of views adds a new element not seen in any horror game before and also adds to the fun of exploring the Fatal Frame 2 world, it takes away from any monotonous feeling the overall speed of the game may have given off.

Aside from its unique battle system, the game also has a hefty list of other unique features. As spirits are captured, some leave behind orbs or rocks that contain what the spirit was thinking. These can be used with the radio, also found shortly after the beginning of the game. Aside from the stellar cut scenes, diaries and other scrapings tell Fatal Frame 2's one of a kind story of the twin sisters. Album mode is also available; this is where the player can save his or her pictures that were taken throughout gameplay and/or battles. Other features that are unlocked down the road contain mission mode, galleries, special costume and accessory acquirements, added difficulty settings, plus more. The value of this game is simply amazing as so much is unlockable and it keeps the player playing in or out of story mode.

The graphics are well done; the FMV's are beautiful as are the rendered character models and backgrounds. The game has little to no graphical flaws and that's a tough procedure considering the free roaming first person option that is available. The only suggestion would be to have an option to turn the grain on or off, the way it's a still layer over moving picture can be a bit annoying at times. Otherwise the graphics are well done and decently polished.

Sound wise the game contains an eerie and fitting soundtrack that is faint but well blended. The sound effects are also well done, from the camera noises to the many sounds of an old and rotting village. Some effects will even send a chill down your spine, no joke.

Overall, this is one of the better and certainly most polished horror games to date. With its many features, deep story, and unique gameplay, it'll certainly leave the gamer with much to do post-game, not to mention a more than enjoyable first run. With its spine tingling addicting gameplay, every owner of this game will surely want to complete every last ounce of gameplay.

  It was persuasive but I want to make the right decision so I don't regret after I buy it. I'm going to watch the GS movies of the game to make my final decision. :D

I picked this game up yesterday and all I can say WOW. It's very (dare I say) pretty and the spook factor is great. Plus I think the two girls are hot and can't wait to see how they look in their extra costumes. I love asian horror movies so this is right up my alley.

Yes, the game does a great job at giving you a horrific atmosphere, much like the second game did. Only one flaw of atmosphere here, for me at least... though I did hear a reviewer mention it as well. The second game put you in a scary atmosphere and left you there, the "dream world" of Fatal Frame 3 has way too many transistions from the horrific atmosphere to the cozy and safe mindset of Rei's home. At first I felt the home was even scarry, that's how these games toy with me. But after a few transistions I now know it's a safe spot and that puts my mind to rest when there. It not only pulls me out of the story a bit, but it also takes away from that non-stop spooky world that I was constantly in during Fatal Frame 2. Don't get me wrong, it's more than a scary title and the home scenes aren't too repetitive, not enough to ruin the game in any way, but I definately could have done without them. A story that is a dream is fine with me, when you start and end the dream in one stride, or even through a single break, but there are quite a few in this game pulling you in and out quite a bit. Aside from it taking away the non-stop tension, when in those horrific dream worlds... don't get me wrong, it's just as scary as Fatal Frame 2 and in many ways more. The ghost tricks, sounds and visuals are all improved, it's one scary game. Like I said, when I first arrived home I was even scared in the game... nothing felt safe. I may add I haven't completed the game yet, so if they decide to make our safe little home enter the nightmare world, or have something scary happen there... all of my less-tension home analogy will be far off, because we all know there is nothing more terrifying in a game when something takes place in an area you thought of as a safe spot. Anyway, I'll play some more this weekend, a great game but my time hasn't been much lately, finals and school work are owning me hard.

The house bit doesn't bother me at all it reminds me of a merchant or Item box location. What freaks me out in the game is when a ghost grabs you there seems no way of shaking them off and after you finally are released they disappear before you can click off a photo. I love how the cut scenes just flow effortlessly I get sucked in everytime and almost forget to start playing again. :D

Though there are safe spots in all horror games, taking you out of the world is quite different than entering a typewriter room. Regardless, I'm getting used to it now.

As for shaking ghosts off, shutter at the correct time and you can repel them effortlessly.

While playing yesterday I returned to the house and developed some film. There were ghosts in the house and other weirdness. So the lines between "dream" and "reality" are starting to blur.
