Interested to see what will come out on top, Rebirth isnt an option, any of the ports for the original game other than Rebirth fall under the REDC category. :rcg:

Honestly its an extremely tough choice for me, sense all 3 of the first titles are my top favorites. I would have picked 1 or 2 a month back, and never in a million years chose RE3, but Ive been re-playing it non stop this week, and it I have to say it truly is the perfected version of the first two.

My favourite is the original, too many great memories.

But the best from a technical point of view is Resident Evil 2 by a considerable distance.

BH 2 for me, though I wasn't far off from picking the original/Directors cut.

I have to say Original RE. Aside from having paved the way for future Horror games, it had a really nice feel to it, and the bad acting isn't something that I'll ever forget.

I chose RE 3 because it was the first one I played out of the originals. I would have chosen the second game but I enjoy playing 3 better and I'm not too good at the second one for some reason.

With my nostalgia goggles on, Re1. Without them.... Still Re1. I just love the pacing and how the game progresses, it manages to stay interesting even with such a large amount of backtracking. It's also my favorite setting in the series.

RE2 by far. The original is fun but it's kind of a joke when compared to the Remake, and while RE3 is a good game I never cared for it as much as the others (perhaps due to its length).

RE2 had intertwining scenarios (which blew my mind at the time), a great story, intriguing characters, and some of my favorite RE settings - the RPD and Birkin's lab. It might be the "nostalgia goggles" (as Glue puts it), but I love everything about that game. I'm also more fond of Leon and Claire as characters than Chris and Jill, but that might just be because Chris took PEDs to boost his batting average in RE5 and Jill stole Samus's zero suit and joined the circus.

Ha, I still remember the first time I rented RE2 back in 1999. I played through Claire A and thought I had finished the game, thinking that Leon's scenario would just be the same thing but with a different character. What an idiot. It wasn't until my friend told me that I had only played a quarter of the game that I just went out and bought the damn thing!

Original. One thing I liked is it had tough "special forces" characters but it didn't takeaway from the creepy atmosphere or dread. Most horror games/movies is either a scared civilian or incompetent military or an overpowered attitude like RE4 Leon.
The RE1 characters are my favorite of the series Chris,Jill,Rebecca,Wesker,Barry.
Mansion still my favorite location, and tyrant is my favorite BOW.

Re3 would be second for me. 2 is good but I remember my first playthrough my friends hyped it so much and its just ok to me.

I'm one of the few who really does differentiate between best and favorite. Biohazard '96 or Director's Cut will always be my number one, but I'll easily admit that Biohazard 2 was nearly perfect and that much more solid a title. It's the best by far.
