I have a challenge for my fellow biohaze members...Everyone has their reason for disliking the films, but whats something about them you actually like ? I mean specific stuff, you don't have to like the entire movie in question. I'll start:

-I like how the original film was basically a small group trying to survive against the undead, sure none of them were game characters but it had some of the spirit the original games had.

-I liked Sienna Gullory as Jill, when she wasn't being overshadowed by alice she was kind of a badass.

In Resident Evil Afterlife, i liked how the Executioner was a practical effect, not a terrible-looking CGI peice of crap. Boy, was I shocked to find that out.

That reminds me, I also loved the Claire/Executioner fight. Excluding the part where he gets back up and has to be killed by Alice of course.

The only thing I like is Sienna Guillory being an excellent live action portrayal of Jill Valentine.

The thing is, there's potential here and there for a scene here and a scene there. But they always find a way to ruin each and every one of them. I'd love to be able to say I enjoyed this or that but its more like I 'wanted' to enjoy this or that but each and every time any fan service shows up, they fuck it up before you can even process any enjoyment.

Sienna played some of Resident Evil 3 and studied Jill's moves before shooting the movie, it really shows here. It's like it's lifted directly from the game.

I never had a problem with Sienna as Jill, but, to be honest, I never really entirely saw or thought specifically of Jill when I saw her play her in the movie. Even that scene you linked doesn't really show me anything that shouts 'Jill' outside of the sitting on the bed legs crossed like Jill in the opening of Nemesis.

The walking into the RPD and shooting zombies and the i told you line didn't really do anything to say "Hey that's really jill!' for me though.

But, I appreciate that she at least 'played' the damn game a bit to research the role, if that's true. Everyone else just 'watched' someone else play it :P

But, either way, I can't really get behind Jill in the movies because everytime she tried to do ANYTHING Alice would steal her scenes left and right and make her outright useless. Plus the whole "NEMESIS?! OH SHIT WAAAAAAH FUCK AHHHHHH!!!" crying and running away like a little bitch scene they did to her. Such an insult to her character.

To be honest, this is the only scene I liked in the movies:

And by like I mean, it's the only time I watched the movies and the inner fanboy in me got a little excited and was enjoying it. Sadly, that lasted all of what? a minute a half before Wesker tosses them in the tubes and the entire scene turns to shit. And it's not like the scene itself isn't full of derp like Worthless Miller standing there aiming his gun while Wesker's doing his "Chris and Claire redfield" line, like he's bored and obviously just waiting for Wesker to do his line. Or when wesker first hits him I always lol at how stupid and derpy Chris looks in reaction. It's so badly acted, there's a lot of terrible choreography in that scene.

Still, it's the only scene I even remotely enjoyed to any extent.

I used to tolerate the first film because it didn't have all the mary sue bullshit in it, but, after seeing what the series became, I don't even really like or care about the first film anymore either. And there might be parts of Apocalypse that have some nostalgia to them but everything is constantly ruined by either Alice or just outright derpy bullshit. I mean hell, Nemesis starts off cool but then to fully cement the Mary Sue'dom of Alice, even friggin Nemesis falls in love with her :P All the squad team in the first movie loved Alice, even the Red Queen ended up liking Alice, the stupid doctor in apocalyse was obsessed with her, the doctor in extinction was obsessed with her, wesker is obsessed with her, and even nemesis is into her. You can't get more mary sue than that.

Anyway, I'll stop since I know this is the 'like' thread :P
