It's a double standard because, like I said earlier, either the story matters or it doesn't. You don't get to decide when the story matters and when it doesn't like you have done in this thread. And clearly it does, because unlike RE5 Versus Mode, the teams in Heroes Mode cannot be customized. If story or theme didn't matter at all, then any team should have been allowed to be made (I wanted an Ada+Jill+Claire+Leon combo...) So I'm arguing, given the logic in splitting the 8 characters up, that Ada is definitely on the wrong side. And we go back to the same story used to justify why it's called Heroes in the first place.

Even if I did agree that the story only matters for team matching... I still think she belongs with the others. Moreso than how it is now, anyway.

Slant Six got so much wrong with this game, it's not even funny. This is one of them, as minor a point as it is. I remember a lot of people saying "Ada's not a bad guy" when the trailer was unveiled, and rightfully so. Heroes is a botched attempt at trying to appeal to RE fans.

Anyway, I respect your opinion but politely disagree...
There is no double standard.

Again, this is literally ALL it is.

Developer: Hey, we have the SPEC OPS and U.S.S. for normal modes. So if we're gonna include Classic Re chars, we need another two teams to skin swap for. So I guess we'll do Heroes vs Villains. We got Jill, Carlos, Claire and Leon all in the city during that time so I guess those are our heroes. Ok we got Hunk and Nicholai for Villains, who else? Oh well, Ada was there at the time and she is kinda a villain in a way and does play alongside the villains like krauser and wesker so I guess she makes the cut. She'll go on the villains team then. Alright, we need one more person. We could use Annette or Irons but I don't think shooter fans will find them cool enough and they're not Survivors anyway, we need another Hunk wannabe like the U.S.S. How about that pilot that calls Hunk Mr. death? Yeah, let's use Lone Wolf. Ok we got our team.

That is ALL there is to it. I don't get how you don't understand this. They put two teams because that's how the core mechanics of the game already worked. You can't mix and match SPEC OPS and U.S.S., so you can't mix and match Heroes and Villains because the whole point of each team is to clearly have 'heroes' vs 'villains'. SPEC OPS (heroes) vs U.S.S. (villains) and then the actual Heroes vs Villains. It's just a game design choice. Ada was put on Villains because they needed to fill a Villain spot and she technically can be a villain since she DOES play for their team even if it's only a masquerade.

Why do you think there's 6 U.S.S. and 6 SPEC OPS yet only 4 heroes and 4 villains? Because it's obvious they had issues trying to include 6 of each since they focused on Survivors and there aren't really any other 'hero' survivors in RC at the time outside of Ada and Sherry :P So they cut it to 4 and Ada is thrown on Villains because tehcnically she 'can' be a villain even if we as fans know that she's an anti-hero. She still masquerades as a villain and thus can be put on the villains team and make SENSE. And then they added stupid Lone Wolf to round out the teams. Again, that is all there is to it.

Actually trying to make logical 'story' sense out of the MODE ITSELF is inane.

RE5 let you mix and match because the game wasn't designed with hero team vs villain team (u.s.s. vs spec ops) mechanics. Using that as an example is irrelevant. Again, you wouldn't try to explain why chris, sheva, jill and wesker are all trying to kill each other. So there's no reason to try and explain why Ada and Leon are trying to kill each other, retrieve G-samples, hop on a chopper out of the city etc. in a completely irrelevant multiplayer mode.

I've never been a Helena fan. Her attitude is off-putting, and her refusal to tell Leon anything about why they were heading to the cathedral got on my nerves. After the second chapter, she existed solely for revenge, much like Sheva. She couldn't have been a more irrelevant character at that point.

Piers and Jake were much better-done characters, as much as I dislike the latter. They had relevance to the story throughout their campaigns, and while one was quite generic throughout most of the game, he redeemed himself in the end. The other made Steve Burnside look mature, but at least he was plot relevant.

Regarding Helena's sexiness, yeah, she does kind of have it in a casual way. But I'd prefer Sherry. Jill's over-sexualization in RE5 pretty much ruined her character for me.

As far as Helena not being held accountable for her actions in the end, remember that she was coerced into it by Simmons. If that evidence had been presented, it is plausible that she would have gotten off. However, in the real world, people love to have someone to blame, and since Simmons was already dead, it's also possible that she could have been hung out to dry for it all.

I've said it for years that this series needs to start killing off some of its major characters. Not just for the sake of it, but to instil some tension and dread into the proceedings. The main characters have this aura of invincibility around them which is hurting the experience now. Every time a new RE game is announced we know straight away that Chris, Leon, Jill and company are going to walk away at the end of it completely unscathed and because of this any new main enemy Capcom draw up just cannot be taken seriously.

Did anyone really believe for a second that Capcom would have the stones to kill off Chris in RE6? I don't think so, simply because they have never killed off a major protagonist character, ever.

In my opinion, Jill should have died in RE5. It would have been a major shock that would have kept fans talking for years, and it would have given Chris a real reason to be properly gunning for Wesker.
Likewise Chris in RE6. He dies to save Jake, the son of his mortal enemy so a vaccine can be made for the C-Virus. Why they bottled it and changed it to Piers is beyond me.

We need some major shocks. If RE7 is announced you need to go into it with the sense of dread that your favourite character might not make it out of this one. Otherwise it's just 'Oh, Leon's in RE7. I wonder what hair product he is using and what organization he is working for this time..."

Some of the most memorable TV shows over the last 20 years including Lost, the X-Files and the Walking Dead have used this formula well when it comes to upsets and the killing of fan favourites. It kept you guessing and that is why they are still being talked about today.

Jesus is the Head Bitch In Charge.

I'm not familiar with the original precursor topic, but I'd figure that members of this forum are above making petty comments like this because someone from a certain faith group acted out like a brat.

I'd hate to see a typical religion and/or "infidel" bashing fest commencing. I've seen it happen in other forums and it's about as ugly as it gets, next to political talk.

As long as every chapter of each game has been beaten in professional, you'll get the trophy.
