Fighters and good FPS game alike, when do you see someone win a high level tourney by camping or being a complete run away? There are turtles who pick their spots or legit zoning, but running away spamming filth or camping in an FPS? Never see it. If it does work, game is usually laughable.

If the game is anywhere above poverty, punish them. Anyone who does this is almost always bad and easily outsmarted. Like Ikari said, there isn't a rule against it, but there sure are multiple options to expose it.

Just about everything coming out has me more interested than the current batch of fighters (outside of KOFXIII), Skullgirls included.

Anyone here getting SCV?

Games like the OP would like a word with you. Titles like Resonance of Fate, Valkyrie Chronicles, Xillia and even White Knight to an extent are all gems in their own right. I'm with you, previous generations (namely the PSX era) were light years better. However diamonds in the rough still exist and are greatly backed by next generation hardware most of the time, making for some spectacular titles.

To me a lot of the western RPG's have lost touch and come out completely uninspired. Half of them end up being third person shooters at their core and can't be mentioned next to great titles like KOTOR and Morrowind.

I stand by Skies of Arcadia as one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

Possession stance cancels the super, though all of the hits continue to connect. Too good. Natsuuu
Lol whaaaat? Crazy.

People are actually saying she's the best character so far.
Ironically enough, it's true. But it seems more like bitching about a character that nobody can block as opposed to her being "that good". For example, someone had this to say about Natsu (From 8WayRun - http://8wayrun.com/threads/scv-tier-list.10326/page-2):

"S: Natsu
Agreed. This character does way too much damage for the options she has. The insane number of guard breaks she has allows her to build meter like a motherfucker, her CE is safe on block except to certain other CEs, and her 50/50s guarantee 80+ damage meterless bullshit. Seriously, this character is fucking Amy all over again."

I intensely disagree. Seeing "Way too much damage for the options she has" was already enough for me to instantly realize it was just plain complaining. However, saying that Natsu is Amy all over again? That's just a retarded exaggeration. SC IV Amy was about as brain-dead easy and good as they come. If they had her in a game like this (with no real way to repel stuff without meter) she'd be literally banned. As for Natsu herself, she's definitely a rewarding character that takes practice and definitely a good amount of skill to use. People TRY to pick her because they see how good players use her, but they don't realize that it does not come easy.

Having messed around with the game myself, I picked Pyrrha. Now Pyrrha is probably the "Amy" of SC V. Definitely not as brain-dead, but it doesn't take THAT much skill to use her. She has normals you can abuse because of their priority, a good amount of her normals are safe, she has a command guard impact (that requires no meter), easy set ups into super, and she does a lot of damage. She's literally Sophitia II (for obvious reasons of course). When you compare Natsu and Pyrrha, it can be argued that Natsu is potentially better, but there's no doubt that Pyrrha is definitely easier with less risk and better reward.

Oh, and isn't it sad that a "guest style" such as Devil Jin is even considered in the top category? I don't even know who the hell suggested that, but it was definitely not needed. If it really turns out to be THAT good, there's a chance that it'll be banned in tourneys, but we'll see.

Natsu v Taki
Well just because Taki was way better doesn't mean Natsu can't be better than everyone in SCV. Not saying she is, but it's totally dependent on how she can compete in this game, and it's a very different game than SC2.

Saying anything is any tier 4 days in is pretty retarded though.
I agree with you and that makes obvious sense, though the comparison isn't based solely on that.

I don't think she is either, but it's also too early to tell. I was using examples to show how similar the pressure is in different ways and how back then (despite legit version changes A-F) the character was never nerfed, always good and yet always beatable. In SCII Taki posed the same threat as Natsu in SCV thus far, if not more and was never changed. In an overly detailed way, I'm just saying we've been through this already and if we've learned anything, it's too early to call for version changes outside of obvious game breaking glitches.

General question in regards to SCV: If I were a big fan of SC1, would I be interested in it? The great netcode has me intrigued.
Outside of it's newly introduced nuances, the game feels at home for the most part. If you enjoyed either SC or SCII, I'd say give it an honest shot. The net code is generally good too, haven't had too many issues with it. Definitely the smoothest 3D fighter I've played. If you do get it, make sure to snatch a 360 copy so we can play.

By the way tomorrow night I'm headed to Winter Brawl. It's been a while since I've been in the tourney scene, but I'm going to be competing in SCV. The game is generally fresh yet and I'm not too sure of the match ups, so it can go either way at this point. Regardless I'm going to take it for a learning experience. Getting seeded for EVO would be a bonus but is not a necessity to compete (planning on going and staying with Detrimantix), so I'm going to take it as a learning experience. Win/Win really. Still excited though, better to do it than talk about it. Feels like old times... wish me luck.

With JGR already coming, that'd literally solidify the most worthy three in my opinion.

Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, House of the Dead, Jet Grind Radio, Skies of Arcadia, Street Fighter III, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, CODE Veronica and Shenmue will all have been released on XBLA then. That pretty much means all the 'big' titles of the Dreamcast are now represented. Just missing Sonic Adventure 2 really and maybe Phantasy Star Online.

Like we talked yesterday, I'm not much for abandonment but Tira's tools were demolished and for no good reason. Did you try and play her much post patch? Had to be ugly. At least you're liking Viola though.

As for post patch Natsu, I'm making it work. She's still good. If she was A or F tier I was picking her so I can't complain. Learning some new post patch tech traps and mixing it up more in place of CH fishing.

HOV B, WR K, 6A+B PO A:6, 3KKK * WR B, 4A+B, POR 8B+G = Nasties.

BTW played SCII all weekend and almost forgot just how good that game is. SCV holds up in it's own way and I can happily play both side by side without one feeling drastically worse, though SCII is beyond fluid and allows for so much more fast instinctual mix up. Game flows like no other. Give me that damn game on XBL/PSN. Happy to be playing both side by side again, it was something I was worried about doing as the original acclimation is rough, though doing it just fine now.

Looking forward to the Spring/Summer as I'm trying to host a 'retro' tourney for the game in addition to attending some SCV goodness.

that's the spirit!

You have one week. If I don't see more than 5G for SCV on your XBL accnt you will be banned from this thread. ;)

Ita funny because this guy pays to change his tag constantly and does an MSG 2 ALL FRIENDS, constantly. And those spam measages are full of him sending inane pics of himself, his cat or telling everyone he got a new game or toy or posted a new video on youtube or thinks this song is amazing.

I've been away from my xbox for a few months since it broke and came back to check messages and saw 12. Figured it was people asking where I've been maybe. Instead it was 12 spams from him.

Its just kinda crazy. He also buys new clothes for his avatar weekly and changea his bio just as often.

I'm not usually one to judge others too heavily but you gotta admit that's a bit excessive >_>

Nice, a bud may be getting me it. If so, I'd play it some with you. I'll play anything.

Been loving SCV so much, really having a great time with it. Competitively, casually, etc. It's just a damn fine fighter.
