V, you're absolutely right about grabs. Grab mixup is a very important part of a fighting game. In addition to the start up there is only a single grab and the tech window is huge in BB. It's retarded and one of the reasons the game can never rival Guilty Gear if kept the same. The huge damage without proration doesn't somehow fix itself as a mixup option. It's not even a good alternative like an unblockable in MB because of the situations its done in.

In fact, I've even thought that SF3/4 have had too lenient teching, although kara throw kind of help. The situation with ST even makes them okay, especially with the set ups.

The oki game is just retarded because of the tech rolling and ground pick up so that it isn't really interesting at all. Guilty Gear might have a too-ridiculous focus on oki, but this simplification is stupid. The scrubification of blocking is also noticeable compared to GG. You'll see people jumping out of mixups a lot more but notice how the instant block has 5 frames I think instead of 2 from GG. The parry from GG is next to worthless how it is but offense is kept much tighter in GG. Not to mention FRCs that allow for a lot of other things.

I do like the barrier being a separate gauge and the burst in CS is okay but the game seems lacking in these areas. The grab is the largest problem.

Foxy, the grabber should have the advantage because the took the risk to get close and maybe outsmarted their opponent.

"Canyouplay."

The piano room dialogue is so often overlooked. Recall Wesker's secret model as she slithers into the large lounge area. "It's me, Chris." in the kind of voice that flows out of a woman from their misguided, manipulative natures when they want something (always). Chris, not falling for her lustful teenage eyes replies calmly "Is that you, Rebecca?" AS IF he didn't know it was her, which would of course he DEFINITELY did.

The real genius of the model man comes through here por que it shows that Chris is in control - and he knows it. Imitating his mentor, Shircock Holmes, Chris has already predicted the false allegations of sexual harassment or rape, so he is not falling for it. It might have worked on Barry "Family Man" Burton but not on Christopher Redfield. But even with this suave rejection Rebecca cannot give up until she makes an absolute fool of herself. Armed with the same slutty tactics she capitalized on to get her job and get through college (what women do best) she makes her declaration of war by stepping into the man's workplace. If Chris was thirsty for destruction he would have invited it in readily. Men love challenges because no challenge is too tough for those with balls.

"It's the Moonlight Sonata!" exclaims the child fishing for assault or domestic (RESIDENT Evil) violence charges, at minimum. Submitting his male dominance in every conceivable avenue with a single murmur he carries away our hearts with the best sentence in the entire game: "Canyouplay."

We'll never forget when you were in good games, Chris. We love you.

"See, relax and play."

That's a terrible glitch. You should take the game out and snap it in half and learn how to enjoy life.

Or Foxy's post could just be read as making the point about subjectivity and then stating his take without being that specific.

She looks stupid and boring. Remember those cool games RE1 and RE3? This is what you're left with. Look at her flipping around, bouncing off walls and shooting machine guns really well and just remember that you could have had real-Jill.

I just want to say that MvC3 just makes me want to play 2... and even though I suck at execution and so 3 is better for my chances of winning, things like X-factor really make me second-guess its being fun. I know that the game is more fun when I don't pick Hulk/Ryu but it just amounts to a bunch of stupid shit that I just kind of smile at an roll my eyes (even when I'm doing it).

I was never a good Marvel player and but I get responses like "Cable! AHVB*infinity!" or "You can't 80% of the characters!" and while those things are true... just look at the match quality difference at high levels. Also look at the no X-factor. I don't feel anything cool like Ruby Heart/Dhalsim Doom rocks. It's not that you can't do anything interesting with assists... it's just that it ends up feeling all the same for the more part. I think even if there was nothing else, these things stand on their own. This and the fact that the game feels incomplete as far as character selection really made me disappointed in this game.

Games are really getting on my nerves recently. It's not that they don't have any redeeming qualities or that they can't be fun... but when I get BlazBlue coming from GG Accent Core, or when I MvC3 from 2, Brawl from Melee (<-most unacceptable) and the Resident "Ass" Evil 5 when Capcom acted like it would actually return to RE roots... I don't know how much more I can take of this BS.

Did that seriously just go on for like two pages? :mikami:

Did anyone notice the part where Leon goes to the surveillance room and Ashley is screaming "Leon! HALP!" to the camera and out of nowhere that one Ganado looks right into the camera and makes this noise and then signals to the other Ganado to flip off the switch?

Okay whoever wrote that part of the story is an idiot. I'd like to think that Mikami was completely oblivious to the entire story honestly. Think about this for a moment. Let's assume that Ashley just likes to scream to Leon. I can accept that. Then she is screaming into the surveillance camera for some reason. Fair enough.

Why the hell then does that Ganado just coincidentally think Leon is in the surveillance room? Out of all places? Wouldn't it make more sense to keep it on in case Leon got there and they saw it and needed to send more guys? Now this brings me to my second point - why is there a switch to switch it off in the room? Does not that defeat the purpose of the surveillance?

That's one of my many problems with this stupid story. This game was fun but it completely ruined RE with it's stupid ass story. Also the AI is too funny in this game. Lastly as soon as that cutscene mentioned above is over I like to knife the screens and I know you do too.

Well I think that that proves without a shadow of a doubt that RE4 is guilty of the crime of which it is accused. The statute of limitations never runs out on criminally bad storylines. Thank you. There will be no further questions.

Court is adjourned.

People cried heresy over RE4. But now people don't think of it like that so much, because of how much the series has evolved over time.
I'm pretty optimistic believe it or not about some things, but I am still crying heresy. RE4 has blasphemed the RE name even if it was fun and looked awesome and had Mercenary mode.

I go back and I play Rebirth or Re2 and I think of how awesome these games are and I think to what has happened from RE4. Granted stupid stuff happens in stories, especially from video games but I didn't want it to happen to this game series.

I still think this is legitimate criticism even though I make these threads in jest. RE4 is still relevant, it is part of the main storyline. It may have gotten people into the series but the older games have so much more value to me. Sure I beat 4 like 5 billion times like other people and it was cool, but it just doesn't deliver to me. The replay value is good, but the atmosphere and the very nature of the game isn't like my beloved series.

Nothing to tie it in good enough. I will say right now 100% I would have preferred RE4 not only to have a decent story, but to play like the classic games play. Sure, I understand people wanted the upgrades to gameplay, but I think they could be implimented differently so as to not make the game pure action. I don't know if 5 will ever erase the poopstain that is this game. Will that even be good enough?

I wouldn't be so kind to call the plot "light" it is pure idiocy. Believe me when I say my beef is with the core story, not just some Ganado looking into the camera and this whole thing. That was just hilarious.

Check out them ratios.

Speaking of ratios, I like how I won like 2 times in my life against you in CvS2.

Did you ever win? I can't remember any time.

Yeah, you're probably right. :kendo:
