Saddler is the leader of the religious cult known as Los Illuminados. Saddler convinced Ramon Salazar to reopen the dig site that held the fossillized remains of a parasite called Las Plagas. Saddler allowed himself to join with the parasite, becoming the “queen,” so to speak.

He infected a nearby village to create an unwitting army of Ganado, all which do his bidding without hesitation due to Las Plagas. Saddler’s next goal was taking over the United States. To do this he used Krauser to kidnap the President’s daughter. His plan was to inject Ashley with the parasite and return her to the President, after which she would infect all members of the US government, giving Saddler control of the most powerful nation in the world.

Saddler’s plans were spoiled by special agent Leon Scott Kennedy, who killed Saddler’s agents one by one, including castellan Ramon Salazar and mercenary Jack Krauser. Leon then faced off against Saddler himself, and with the help of Ada was able to destroy the beast Saddler became with a rocket launcher.
